The complete Touchstone Trilogy, containing "Stray", "Lab Rat One" and "Caszandra". Rescue is only the beginning...
On her last day of high school, Cassandra Devlin walked out of exams and into a forest. Surrounded by the wrong sort of trees, and animals never featured in any nature documentary, Cass is only sure of one thing alone, she will be lucky to survive.
The sprawl of abandoned blockish buildings Cass discovers offers her only more puzzles. Where are the people? What is the intoxicating mist which drifts off the buildings in the moonlight? And why does she feel like she's being watched?
Increasingly unnerved, Cass is overjoyed at the arrival of the formidable Setari. Whisked to a world as technologically advanced as the first was primitive, where nanotech computers are grown inside people's skulls, and few have any interest in venturing outside the enormous whitestone cities, Cass finds herself processed as a 'stray', a refugee displaced by the gates torn between worlds. Struggling with an unfamiliar language and culture, she must adapt to virtual classrooms, friends who can teleport, and the ingrained attitude that strays are backward and slow.
Can Cass ever find her way home? And after the people of her new world discover her unexpected value, will they be willing to let her leave?
The Touchstone Trilogy eBook Andrea K Höst
Hands down an epic amazingbaaaalllls sci-fi adventure!*squeeeeeee*
This book is so creative! it goes beyond and above your typical YA fantasy. Where your female 17 year old main character is not whining about life, her hair, clothes, boys or her emo life. No, this girl is all business, what practical things to do to survive and realistic as it can get. How would you act, what would you do if all of a sudden you end up in an alternate unfamiliar world with absolutely no knowledge of how you ended up there?
The first part of this book is all about Cassandra (Cass) describing in her diary what is happening, and trying -barely- to make sense and survive with what she had at the time of her strange trip to another reality: her uniform, backpack with basic school supplies, a bag of tissues, an empty diary she was planning to give to a friend and an empty bottle of Fanta.
Yup, not too much to go with... so you may as well imagine all the different scenarios she faces.
Being told in first person -diary-reality- form makes it even better. You learn experience and learn things at the same time as Cass does, making this a sci-fi journey of discovery.
Loved it!! I even recommended it to my husband, since it lacked all the I'm - such - a girly - chicky - flick - kind - of - book (which I admit I also love to read). Personally, its a perfect read for anyone who wants a simple, yet very smart, survivalist sci-fi story.... It was that good!
This book is full of fun witty references to familiar stuff I like: music, books, artists, writers and states of mind.
I'm so glad I bought the whole trilogy in a package .... [dives straight to book 2]

The Touchstone Trilogy eBook Andrea K Höst Reviews
My reading of the Touchstone Trilogy came on the tails of finishing up the Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin and the Hunger Games Trilogy Suzanne Collins. So it is hard to follow in the steps of such an epic story and a heart rendering tale.
That said I really liked the diary format of TTT. It threw around a lot of names and some characters seemed to get lost in the mix to a degree but the key players were well thought out. To be honest I did start to get a bit bored in the middle but ***SPOILER ALERT*** then Cass and Ruuel took in the kids. At that point that TTT became more emotionally captivating.
All in all it was a good read and I was sorry to see it end.
Ok First I've read this series about five times Love it!!!! Any I'm not going to tell you about it only that it has Sci Fi, adventure, Action, Romance it from a girls point of view and it read mostly like she writing in a dairy. also the characters have powers.
This series also tells what happens to the characters after the 3 books are finished so there is a 4 small book, Wish there were more book out there like this series, Something Unique .......... I don't give reviews much but if I do it cause I love the book and want other people to read them.... PS this is 3 books in one u can buy them separate 1st book called Stray.
I love this series, the adventure in this story is so awesome and interesting. You can tell the author has put a lot of work into this story and series. The main character are perfect for this story and the main female character is strong. 5 stars all the way
I wish there was audio book.
Just go ahead and get the entire Trilogy. Like potato chips -- you can't read just one!
As I've posted for the other books in this series, I read a lot, but rarely write reviews. This series is tops. I rate it just under Harry Potter and above Twilight -- and those were the only two series on my short list, before this one. I'm on my third back-to-back reading of all three books, plus the epilogue, draining all the nuances and goodness from the wonderful story.
Touchstone Trilogy by Andrea K Host.
I purchased this book after reading a sample of Andrea K Host's -And all the Stars-. I had already put the three books in my wish list prior to that. But after reading that sample I had a feeling I should just buy the whole and totally unrelated trilogy. I read through them in three days.
People have told me that writing in first person is hard to do. They have given various reasons why it does not work and sometimes those reasons are conflicted. Some even suggest that it's this decades fad to write in first person. Because this is written as a diary it's naturally in first person. Andrea nails first person right on the head, and right out of the box.
Cass is such an engaging character in Stray that she sucks you right into her story at the beginning. There is not doubt of Andrea's world building abilities and her strong characterization. But what really got me in this story is in the chapter February when Cass's birthday arrives. And I'm not giving anything away, other than to honestly say I was so into Cass by then that I nearly cried. It's not often a book does that.
And then there was Lab Rat One. And by now this series is peopled with a couple of handfuls of characters that you would think you'd need a score card but there are more to come and Cass has a way of making sure we don't lose track of who is who. Or maybe I should say that Andrea does.
It doesn't take long before Andrea does it to me again. Even though Cass sometimes begins to sound a bit whinny I just get so into her whole dilemma that I can't help but feel what she must be feeling.
So by Caszandra the third installment, you would think I was steeled and ready to handle it. But, Andrea through Cass has a way of now drawing you into her life and the extended family of people around her.
This series of books is one powerhouse. Well told tightly packed. Emotionally charged.
But what really got me was how it all touched me. I would need more stars if I gave a star for every time I was greatly affected by this story.
